Susanna Rezende is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Lund Institute of Technology (LTH), Lund University. She is part of the ELLIIT Recruited Faculty since December 2021 and a Wallenberg Academy Fellow 2023. Her research focuses on understanding computational complexity, particularly why certain mathematical problems are intractable for computers, and how this informs security systems. She collaborates with institutions like Linköping University and researchers in France to advance interdisciplinary projects in discrete optimization and cryptography.
Her research interests include exploring the boundaries of computational problem-solving, leveraging theoretical computer science to design secure systems, and fostering collaborations in complexity theory. She actively builds research teams and networks, such as organizing a research school on complexity theory and contributing to ELLIIT's interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Key Projects:
- Discrete optimization for automatic decision-making in large-scale systems (collaboration with Linköping University).
- Cryptography and security tools using complexity theory principles.
- Awards: Wallenberg Academy Fellow 2023, providing resources to expand her research group and network with Swedish researchers.
- Labs/Teams: Part of ELLIIT, organizing a complexity theory research school, and building a vibrant research group at Lund University.
Outside academia, Rezende enjoys volleyball, hiking, and socializing with friends.
