Susana Velez-Castrillon

Susana Velez-Castrillon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the Richards College of Business, University of West Georgia. She holds a B.Sc. in Biology from Pontifical Javeriana University (Colombia, 2000), an M. Phil. in BioScience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge (UK, 2004), and a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the C.T. Bauer School of Business, University of Houston (2012).

Her research focuses on strategic management, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and organizational dynamics. Key themes include improvisational decision-making, firm reputation, board governance, and global business strategies. She has published widely on topics such as sustainable waste management pedagogy, R&D team improvisation, and gender equity in leadership roles.

Dr. Velez-Castrillon teaches courses including Strategic Management (MGNT-4660), Business Strategy (WMBA-6110), and Corporate Social Responsibility (MGNT-3645). She has consistently offered these courses across multiple semesters, including hybrid and online sections, demonstrating her commitment to diverse learning formats.
