Susan Stagg-Williams is a Professor and Charles E. & Mary Jane Spahr Professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Kansas, College of Engineering. Her research focuses on transforming low-value feedstocks like algae, agricultural residues, and municipal sludge into renewable fuels and high-value products through catalyst design, reaction engineering, and process intensification.
- Research Highlights: Thermochemical conversion of biomass, hydothermal liquefaction (HTL), biochar applications, physicochemical properties of biodiesel, and collaborations with mechanical/environmental engineering.
- Students: Mentored over 10 MS and 9 PhD graduates, alongside current undergraduate and graduate students in her lab.
- Labs: Utilizes advanced facilities at the Measurement, Materials and Sustainable Environment Center (M2SEC) with interconnected labs for testing, research, and production.
