Susan Schroeder is a Senior Lecturer in Political Economy at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). She holds a BS in Mathematics, Economics, and Computer Science from the State University of New York, followed by MA and PhD in Economics from the New School for Social Research in New York. Her research focuses on financial fragility, country risk assessment, business cycles, and UN Sustainable Development Goals. Key contributions include designing public credit rating agencies and exploring wealth taxes to support Green New Deals. She has been a visiting scholar at institutions like the University of London and Cambridge University, and a consultant for UN agencies such as ECLAC and UNCTAD.
Teaching includes courses on Economic Policy, Business Cycles, and Country Risk Analysis, integrating heterodox theories and current events. Schroeder has held various academic roles at FASS, including Honours Coordinator and HDR discipline liaison.
