Susan Mendez

Susan Mendez is a Senior Research Fellow in the Health Economics Research Program at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, University of Melbourne. Previously, she was a Research Associate (2008-2013) and completed her Ph.D. in Management and Economics at the University of Zurich. She specializes in analyzing healthcare market dynamics, focusing on institutional design impacts on stakeholder behavior, pharmaceutical markets, and public policy implications.

Her research explores topics such as competition policy, fee variation, out-of-pocket costs, and the interplay between public and private financing. She actively collaborates with global institutions like the World Bank and Australian government departments. Professional roles include co-editor at the Australian Economic Review, convenor of the International Health Economics Association's Digital Health Technology group, and coordinator of the University of Melbourne Health Economics Group.
