معرفی
Susan Louise Svane is a Professor of Natural and Biomaterials at the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark (DTU). She holds adjunct and honorary professorships at the University of Sheffield and University of Waterloo. Her research focuses on mineral-fluid interface dynamics, surface chemistry of biomaterials, and nanoscale geochemical processes. She has served on advisory boards for BP and the GFZ Potsdam, and leads research groups investigating mineral dissolution mechanisms.
Education:
- Dr. Phil in Civil Engineering, Stanford University (1989)
- MSc in Hydrogeology, University of Waterloo (1983)
- BSc in Earth Sciences, University of Waterloo (1975)
Research Interests: Adsorption phenomena on mineral surfaces, molecular-scale calcite behavior, nanoscale mineral heterogeneity effects, and geocatalytic processes for CO₂ capture. Her work integrates surface science techniques with geochemical modeling to understand environmental and industrial material interactions.
Awards:
- Peacock Medal (2019), Mineralogical Association of Canada
- Member, Danish Academy of Technical Sciences (since 2013)
- Fellow of the Geochemical Societies (since 2011)
Grants & Advising: Leads interdisciplinary projects on silicate dissolution mechanisms with PhD students in geochemistry and physics. Advises on fusing science departments in NAWI Graz and evaluates postdoc/PhD stipends for Innovationsfond.
Labs/Teams: Heads the Natural and Biomaterials research group at DTU, focusing on surface science applications in environmental and industrial contexts.
