Susan Letteney is a Professor of Social Work at York College, CUNY, and Co-founder/Co-director of the Collaborative Research Group on Health Policy and Promotion (CRG-HPP). Her work focuses on HIV/AIDS impact on children and families, including disclosure strategies, stigma reduction, and caregiving. She teaches courses on social welfare policies, community organizing, and online pedagogy. Letteney holds a DSW from Yeshiva University (1997) and prior degrees in social work and education.
Her research emphasizes HIV disclosure to children, family psychosocial adjustment, and healthcare access for marginalized populations. She has collaborated with the World Health Organization and received grants from PSC-CUNY and CUNY initiatives. Notable awards include a Research Fellowship at Hunter College (2006-2012) and a CUNY Faculty Publication Award (2003).
Letteney’s work includes over 20 peer-reviewed articles and frequent presentations at conferences like the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and the National Institute of Mental Health. She actively mentors students through CRG-HPP’s UrbanHealth Lab, integrating research and practice across all academic levels.
