Susan L Ross

Dr. Susan L Ross is an Assistant Professor at San José State University's Health Science & Recreation Department, where she coordinates the Recreation Therapy degree and Complementary and Alternative Medicine minor. She holds a PhD in Transformative Learning from California Institute of Integral Studies and an MS in Recreation Therapy from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, with certifications as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and Recreation Therapist (RTC).

Her transdisciplinary research focuses on transformation processes through therapeutic modalities including adventure therapy, sacred play, and indigenous healing practices. Specializing in trauma treatment for women survivors and veterans, her work bridges clinical practice with cultural preservation through study abroad programs in Peru. Research domains include:
