Susan Hatch Tomkiewicz serves as Professor of Oboe at Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music and Co-Director of the Schwob Summer Music Festival, while maintaining an active performance career as Acting English Hornist and Assistant Principal Oboist with the Columbus Symphony.
Her research and artistic practice centers on expanding double reed repertoire through commissioning new works and advancing musician wellness. Professor Tomkiewicz has premiered compositions by renowned creators including Brian Cherney, Nancy Galbraith, and Brooke Joyce, while teaching 'Yoga for Performers' to address physical and mental health challenges in musical performance.

Her commissioning initiatives have generated innovative solo, electronic, and chamber works for oboe and English horn, significantly enriching contemporary repertoire.
