Susan Goulding is an Associate Professor and Graduate Faculty member in the Department of English at Monmouth University. She holds a Ph.D. from New York University (1995), an M.A. from Adelphi University, and a B.A. from Adelphi University. Dr. Goulding has extensive service experience, including roles as Department Chair (2012-2022), Undergraduate Program Coordinator, and membership on key university committees such as General Education, Sabbaticals, Enrollment, and Undergraduate Studies.
Research Focus: Her scholarship centers on 18th-century women writers, literary authority, and contemporary higher education. Key interests include the history of US higher education, equity in academia, the humanities' role in modern education, historical novels, and literary biography. Her research employs feminist and interdisciplinary approaches to examine gender, power structures, and pedagogical innovation.
Publication Trends: Goulding's articles predominantly analyze gender dynamics and narrative strategies in 18th-century literature, with later work exploring pedagogical applications of literary texts.
