Prof. Susan Golombok is Professor of Family Research and Director of the Centre for Family Research at the University of Cambridge. She holds degrees from the University of Glasgow and University of London, and has pioneered research on novel family structures.
Her work examines child development in families created through assisted reproduction (IVF, donor conception, surrogacy) and non-traditional parenting arrangements (same-sex parents, single mothers by choice). Research demonstrates that family processes outweigh structural factors in child wellbeing.
Golombok's influential studies have informed international legislation on same-sex parenting and assisted reproduction. Her book 'Modern Families' received the British Psychological Society Book Prize for synthesizing decades of developmental research challenging traditional family paradigms.
