Susan Freiwald

Susan Freiwald is Professor of Law and Dean Emerita at the University of San Francisco School of Law. She served as Dean from 2019-2024, implementing curriculum reforms and establishing the Justice for Animals Program. Her scholarship focuses on electronic surveillance and Fourth Amendment protections for digital communications.

Research Interests: Specializes in cyberlaw, privacy regulations, and legislative frameworks for digital surveillance. Key contributions include shaping California's Electronic Communications Privacy Act (CalECPA) and analyzing NSA surveillance programs.
