Susan Ayers is a Professor specializing in perinatal mental health at City, University of London, affiliated with the Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research. Her research examines anxiety and PTSD during pregnancy and postpartum, focusing on prevalence, causes, and interventions. She leads the Maternal and Child Mental Health research group and has secured significant funding, including a £1.8M NIHR grant for preterm birth care improvements.
Her work integrates clinical psychology and public health to enhance maternal wellbeing. Recent projects include evaluating expressive writing interventions and national studies on preterm care.
