Dr. Supun Perera is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS) within the University of Sydney Business School. He leads the TRIPS (Trip Rate Information Processing System) project, a national initiative co-funded by iMove CRC, the University of Sydney, and the Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD. TRIPS aims to create Australia's first multi-modal database for land use trip and parking surveys, enhancing transportation and land use planning through big data integration.
His research focuses on transportation systems, supply chain resilience, and network science applications in logistics. Projects include analyzing container shipping bottlenecks on China’s Maritime Silk Road and evaluating demand-responsive transit services in Sydney. His work bridges theoretical frameworks (e.g., spectral analysis, entropy maximization) with practical applications in urban and global transport planning.
- Key Projects: TRIPS database, global shipping network analysis, supply chain topology modeling.
- Funding Sources: iMove CRC, University of Sydney, Queensland Transport Department.
Publications span transportation accessibility metrics, supply chain disruption modeling, and ferry network design, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to complex systems and infrastructure resilience.
