Sunita Bose

Sunita Bose is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she teaches Research Methods, Social Statistics, and cross-listed courses with Asian Studies, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and International Relations. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University at Albany in 2005. Her research centers on immigration, gender, and families with a regional focus on South Asia, particularly examining girl's education, sex ratio imbalances, gender discrimination, and marriage dynamics through fieldwork in India. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges sociological theory with practical insights from gender studies and South Asian regional expertise.

Analysis of her publication record reveals a sustained focus on gender disparities in India, with recurring themes including educational inequality, demographic consequences of skewed sex ratios, and intimate partner violence.
