Sune W. Stoustrup is a Researcher and PhD Candidate at Technische Universität Berlin's Department of Sociology (Faculty VI), specializing in Spatial Planning and Rural Development. He holds a B.Sc. in Planning and Communication Studies from Roskilde University (2010–2013) and an M.A. in Urban Studies from the Erasmus Mundus Programme (2013–2015). His PhD project, supervised by Prof. Dr. Nina Baur and Prof. Dr. Gabriela Christmann, investigates the discursive construction of challenges in structurally weak European rural regions.
His research interests include rural development rationality, social innovation in marginalized regions, discourse analysis, and figurational sociology. Recent work focuses on EU policy dynamics and their local implementation, particularly in Eastern Europe. He co-led the RurAction project (Horizon 2020) as a Research Associate at the Leibniz Institute (2017–2021), analyzing social entrepreneurship in rural areas.
Key contributions include a 2021 article in European Planning Studies on EU governmentality and a 2017 edited volume on urban change. Stoustrup frequently presents at conferences, such as the International Conference on Spatial Methods (Botswana, 2021) and the Interpretive Policy Analysis Conference (2021).
