Sun Young Lee is a tenured Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Physiology & Neuroscience at USC, specializing in complex retinal conditions including age-related macular degeneration, inherited retinal diseases, and diabetic retinopathy. She directs research on extracellular vesicles for intraocular therapies, developing EV-based treatments for blinding retinal disorders through targeted drug delivery and gene therapy.
Research Focus: Mechanisms of extracellular vesicle-mediated intercellular communication in retinal diseases, development of EV-based therapeutics, and clinical translation of regenerative approaches for vision restoration.
