Sumita Pahwa is an Associate Professor of Politics and Chair of the Department of Middle East and North African Studies at Scripps College. She holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University (2012) and a BA from Middlebury College (1998). Previously, she was an Instructor in Government at Skidmore College (2009–2011). Her research focuses on religiopolitical movements in the Middle East and South Asia, with fieldwork in Egypt and India.
