Sumeyya Akdilek is a Doctoral Candidate in the Media and Communication program at Texas Tech University (TTU), serving as a Research Assistant and Instructor in the College of Media and Communication. She holds an M.A. in Communication Studies (TTU) and a B.A. in Computer Education and Instructional Technology from Middle East Technical University (Ankara, Turkey). She is also pursuing a Women and Gender Studies Certification at TTU.

Her research focuses on forgiveness dynamics in abusive relationships, patriarchal violence, interpersonal communication patterns, and the intersection of gender studies with technology. Notable work includes exploring generative AI’s impact on communication and analyzing gendered differences in online relationships. She teaches courses in Public Speaking, Business Communication, and Interpersonal Communication.
Her publications address critical pedagogy frameworks, digital relationship management, and AI’s sociocultural implications. She actively contributes to academic discourse through teaching and research in media studies and gender analysis.
