Sukanya Guhathakurta

Sukanya Guhathakurta heads a Minerva Fast-Track research group at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics. Her work focuses on the interplay between metabolic processes and epigenetic mechanisms in regulating cell fate decisions during development.

Her research has revealed novel functions of epigenetic regulators like MOF acetyltransferase in mitochondrial metabolism beyond their nuclear roles. Using interdisciplinary approaches including high-resolution imaging and multi-omics, she investigates how metabolic-epigenetic crosstalk influences cellular differentiation and disease pathogenesis. Awards include the CIBSS InteGREATor Award for outstanding publications.
