Sufyan Garoushi is a University Lecturer and Docent at the Institute of Dentistry, University of Turku. He joined the university in 2004, completed his PhD in 2006, and obtained a Docentship in Dental Biomaterials in 2011. His work spans undergraduate and postgraduate dental education, alongside active research at the Turku Clinical Biomaterials Centre (TCBC).
- Doctor of Dental Science (DDS)
- PhD in Dental Biomaterials (2006)
- Docentship in Dental Biomaterials (2011)
Garoushi’s research focuses on optimizing dental restorative materials, particularly fiber-reinforced composites and CAD/CAM technologies. His work addresses polymerization shrinkage, mechanical performance, and clinical evaluation of dental devices. Recent studies explore 3D-printed resins, nanomechanical properties, and adhesion mechanisms.
His 15 most recent articles highlight advancements in fiber-reinforced composites for MOD cavities and endocrowns, mechanical characterization of CAD/CAM materials, and innovations in 3D printing and bond strength optimization. Keywords span Dentistry, Materials Science, and Biomechanics, with sub-fields like Short Fiber Composites, Polymerization Shrinkage, and Dental Device Evaluation.
Teaching activities include pre-clinical instruction in Dental Biomaterials & Morphology, as well as postgraduate research supervision. Garoushi collaborates on clinical projects and contributes to systemic reviews on restorative techniques.
He has been involved in the Turku Clinical Biomaterials Centre (TCBC), focusing on material development, reinforcement strategies, and translational research for clinical applications.
