Sue O'Connor is an Associate Professor/Prosector in Anatomy at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from De Montfort University. Her career began at the James Paget Hospital Histopathology laboratory, progressing to roles at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and later Norwich Medical School, where she became the designated individual for the Human Tissue Authority-licensed anatomy facility since 2014.
- Responsible for overseeing whole body donation practices and anatomical examinations under the Human Tissue Act (2004).
- Academic theme lead for anatomy, focusing on enhancing student learning through clinically active demonstrators and multimedia resources.
- Completed two modules of the Anatomical Society's Anatomy Teachers' Programme with Distinction.
Her research interests center on anatomy education innovation, including workbook development, screencasts, and sustainable pedagogical practices aligned with UN SDGs. She actively contributes to conferences and editorial work, such as co-editing the 2024 Annual Scholarship Meeting of the Association for the Study of Medical Education.
- Awarded the 2004 dissection prize, featured in McMinns Clinical Atlas of Human Anatomy.
Current initiatives include an MA in Higher Education Practice, emphasizing student feedback and curricular improvements. She collaborates with the Clinical Anatomy theme lead to refine anatomy seminars and serves as a Student Support Supervisor (SSS).
