Subramanian Ramachandran

Subramanian Ramachandran serves as a Part-time Lecturer in the Department of Physics within the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at the University of Washington. His academic appointment focuses on experimental physics education and research in condensed matter systems.

Dr. Ramachandran's research centers on experimental condensed matter physics with emphasis on renewable energy materials. His work investigates hydrogen storage in metals, thermoelectric materials, and photovoltaic applications through various measurement techniques including gas absorption at high pressures, electrical measurements under thermal gradients, and cryogenic temperature experiments. He also studies the thermodynamics of gas adsorption on solid surfaces to understand surface adsorption energy, surface phases, and phase transitions, with applications in heterogeneous catalysis and gas-solid interactions.

His teaching portfolio includes Experimental Physics, General Physics, Electrical Circuits, and Thermal Physics courses. His research approach combines experimental techniques with computational modeling using Zacros software to simulate gas-solid interactions.
