Dr. Subbarayan Venkatesan is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), affiliated with the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh (1988), M.S. in Computer Science (1985), M.Tech. in Computer Science (1983), and B.Tech. in Civil Engineering (1981) from the Indian Institute of Technology.

Notable projects include developing instantly deployable networks for disaster areas and privacy-preserving sensor data systems.
Dr. Venkatesan’s work has led to patents, including a method for restoring distributed telecommunications networks (U.S. Patent 5,999,286, 1999). He has held roles such as Chief Architect at Cisco Systems and is an active advisor in academia and industry.
