Su Jara-Pazmino

Dr. Su Jara-Pazmino is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sport Management, Wellness, and Physical Education at the University of West Georgia. She earned her PhD in Sport and Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina and MA in Psychology from the University of Rijeka. As a former student-athlete (basketball) at the University of Michigan, her research focuses on international student-athlete socialization and cross-cultural adjustment.

Her work examines how socialization tactics aid international athletes' adaptation to new cultural environments, drawing on her prior experience as Athletic Director at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador. Current teaching responsibilities include Sport Sociology, International Sport, and Student Athlete Development courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Research has been presented at international conferences including the North American Society for Sport Management. Jara-Pazmino received Croatia's National Award for Promotion of Science (2013) for contributions to sport psychology research. She has supervised five Master's students and currently mentors graduate researchers examining ADHD impacts on aviation safety and adaptive capacity in organizational contexts.
