Stuart Weinstock is an Adjunct Lecturer in Film at Columbia University's School of the Arts and a Film Programmer. He holds a BA in Film Studies and Psychology from Columbia College and an MFA in Directing from Columbia's School of the Arts. His work includes critically acclaimed short films recognized at international film festivals. Currently affiliated with the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies, he bridges academic scholarship with filmmaking practice.
Teaching focuses on American cinematic history, including courses like 'History of Comedy in Cinema,' 'Auteur Study: Steven Spielberg,' and 'New Hollywood (1967-1980).' His research interests intersect film studies with Jewish cultural narratives, leveraging his dual academic background in psychology and film.
Professional affiliations extend to Ramapo College of New Jersey, Mercy College, and the New York Film Academy. The Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies, based at 617 Kent Hall, supports his interdisciplinary work through its mission to explore Jewish history/culture through rigorous academic frameworks.
