معرفی
Associate Professor Stuart Turville is a senior researcher at the Kirby Institute, University of New South Wales, specializing in molecular virology and immunology. His career includes postdoctoral positions at KUL Leuven (Belgium) and Rockefeller University (USA), followed by roles as Research Fellow at the University of Sydney and Head of the HIV Biology Group at UNSW. Since 2015, he has served as Associate Professor, leading translational research on HIV, SARS-CoV-2, and emerging viral threats.
His education includes a PhD in Virology (1997). Turville's research bridges basic science and clinical applications, focusing on:
- Mechanisms of viral entry and immune evasion in HIV/SARS-CoV-2
- Development of gene therapies and antiviral strategies
- Real-time pandemic response, including Omicron variant characterization
Publications emphasize viral evolution, antibody neutralization, and host-pathogen interactions, with recent work on SARS-CoV-2 variants (e.g., Omicron BA.5, JN.1) and novel therapeutics. Collaborative projects include national partnerships with Lifeblood, CSL Behring, and VIIM/ADAPT cohorts.
He directs a laboratory developing platforms for viral isolation and characterization, contributing to Australian and global pandemic guidelines. Current efforts focus on adapting virology expertise to future emerging diseases.
