Stuart Pearson

Dr. Stuart Pearson is a coastal engineering researcher at TU Delft with over 35 scientific publications. He holds a PhD in Coastal Engineering (cum laude) and has extensive international education through TU Delft, University of Southampton, and NTNU.

His research focuses on sediment dynamics for coastal climate resilience, including the development of the SedTRAILS visualization tool and BEWARE early warning system for coral reef-lined coasts. He combines numerical modeling with field measurements to enhance coastal protection strategies.

Recent work includes sediment pathway analysis in evolving coasts (2025), benthic community sensitivity to sandification (2025), and salt intrusion mitigation with earthen sills (2024). His publications span Cambridge Prisms: Coastal Futures, Scientific Reports, and Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science.
