Stuart J. Schnitt

Stuart J. Schnitt, MD is Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Breast Oncologic Pathology at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center. He also serves as Associate Director of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute–Brigham and Women’s Hospital Breast Oncology Program and co-leads the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center Breast Program.

Research Focus

Dr. Schnitt is an internationally recognized authority in breast pathology. His work addresses benign breast disease, breast cancer risk stratification, factors influencing local recurrence after breast-conserving therapy, and stromal–epithelial interactions driving tumor progression. He has published over 340 original articles, reviews, editorials, commentaries, and book chapters.

Books & Editorial Roles

He is the author of the widely used textbook Biopsy Interpretation of the Breast (3rd edition, with earlier editions in Chinese) and a co-editor of the 4th Edition of the WHO Classification of Tumours of the Breast (2012).
