Stuart I. Cromarty, Ph.D. is a Professor of Biology at Assumption University, affiliated with the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on the neuroethology of crustacean behavior, particularly agonistic interactions and hormonal modulation in American lobsters (Homarus americanus). He has published extensively on topics including steroid hormone perception, neurosecretory cell connectivity, and molt-related behavioral changes.
- B.S. in Biology, Boston University (1986)
- M.S. in Zoology, University of Rhode Island (1990)
- Ph.D. in Biological Science, University of Rhode Island (1995)
Dr. Cromarty's work examines the physiological basis of olfactory perception and neural control of behavior, with a focus on serotonin, octopamine, and steroid hormone systems. His 2007 Faculty Development Grant funded research on steroidal effects on lobster nervous systems. Publications from 2000-2008 demonstrate expertise in neuroendocrinology, neurophysiology, and behavioral ecology of crustaceans.
- Faculty Development Grant Recipient (2007)
- Published 12+ peer-reviewed works on lobster neurobiology
- Presented at Society for Neuroscience and Nerve Net Symposia
