Stuart Henderson is a Senior Lecturer in Financial Services at the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics within Ulster University Business School. His academic career includes a Chair at the Irish Accounting and Finance Association and Council membership at the Economic History Society.

- Postgraduate Diploma in Third-Level Learning and Teaching (Dublin Institute of Technology)
His research bridges economic history with contemporary rural development, focusing on banking systems, regional policy, and sustainable futures. Recent work explores agri-environmental schemes, historical census data quality, and Northern Ireland’s economic growth strategies.
Key collaborations include partnerships with researchers from LSE, Leeds, and Rothamsted Research. Notable awards span UKRI/ESRC grants, British Academy funding, and the Ulster University Early Career Researcher Award.
Stuart supervises 4 PhD candidates and MSc dissertations. His academic activities include organizing conferences on sustainable futures and land use transitions, with media contributions on age heaping and rural succession.
