Stuart Farquhar is a Senior Lecturer in Governance & Finance at the University of Northampton, with 32 years of academic experience across three universities. He holds a PhD in corporate governance from the University of Wolverhampton. His research focuses on board processes, corporate governance in sports industries, and sports economics. He supervises PhD students in areas like board dynamics and sports finance. Farquhar has served as an external examiner at Cardiff Metropolitan University and De Montfort University, and reviewed PhDs at Massey University, New Zealand. He is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Business Governance and Ethics.

His recent publications address sustainability in corporate governance and director task performance over time.
Advising & Grants: Supervised two successful PhD students on boardroom trust and learning. Active in editorial roles and international academic committees, including the European Academy of Management. His external roles include membership in the Northamptonshire Lawn Tennis Association and scientific committees for management studies conferences.
Labs/Teams: Leads the International Journal of Business Governance and Ethics as Editor-in-Chief, fostering interdisciplinary research in governance and ethics. Collaborates with global scholars on sports finance and Islamic financial services regulation.
