Stuart Dunn

Professor Stuart Dunn is a leading academic in Spatial Humanities at King's College London, serving as Head of the Department of Digital Humanities (2019–2023). His work focuses on digital mapping, spatial semantics, and the intersection of technology with historical and cultural studies. He holds adjunct roles at Riga Technical University, Beijing Normal University, and the Australian National University. Dunn earned his interdisciplinary PhD in Aegean Bronze Age studies from Durham University (2002), with fieldwork in the Aegean islands.

Research Interests: Spatial Humanities, GIS applications in history/archaeology, digital folklore, cultural heritage visualization, and mobility studies. Current projects include the Ancient Itineraries initiative (funded by the Getty Foundation) exploring computational art history.

Recent Work: Explores death rituals in early modern landscapes, critical GIS, and digital storytelling. His 2025 book chapter on techno-historical narratives and 2024 European Journal of Geography article on London's Strand exemplify his urban and cultural analysis. He frequently lectures on digital culture, including a 2023 talk at the London Month of the Dead Festival.
