معرفی
Dr Stoichko Dimitrov is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at Queen Mary University of London, where he also serves as Director of Postgraduate Taught Studies within the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences. He leads the Dimitrov Lab, an experimental research group focused on photochemistry and photophysics of functional semiconductors for solar energy applications. His work bridges materials science, chemistry, and engineering, with strong collaborations across UK institutions including Imperial College London, UCL, and Swansea University.
His research interests lie in laser spectroscopy, perovskite and organic photovoltaics, printed solar cells, and the photophysics of semiconductors. He investigates charge generation, recombination, and transport dynamics in organic, hybrid perovskite, and quantum dot materials using transient absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy. A key focus is the scalable manufacturing of printed photovoltaics, particularly via slot-die coating, supported by the development of a novel in-situ optical analysis kit for real-time monitoring of film formation.
The analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals a strong trend towards industrial scalability and process optimization in perovskite photovoltaics, with significant work on in-situ characterization, crystallization control, lead-free alternatives, and stability enhancement. His research spans fundamental photophysics to applied device engineering, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to next-generation solar technologies.
His scientific awards include the RSC Bursary 2025 and recognition of his PhD student Levon Abelian with the best poster prize at the RSC's Next Generation Materials for Solar Photovoltaics 2024 meeting.
Dr Dimitrov actively supervises PhD students including Zeyin Min, Christian Osborne, Levon Abelian, and Chun Hei Lao. His research is supported by multiple grants from EPSRC, Innovate UK, and the Royal Society of Chemistry, including projects such as Scalable Manufacturing of Single-Crystal Perovskite Devices and Next Generation In-Situ Analysis for Perovskite PV Development.
He leads the Dimitrov Lab, which is equipped with advanced laser spectroscopy tools and focuses on building novel experimental setups for probing material dynamics. The lab emphasizes both fundamental discovery and practical application, with a strong commitment to training the next generation of researchers in sustainable energy technologies.
