Steven Shu-Hsiu Chen is Assistant Professor of Finance at Texas A&M International University's A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Houston (2019), an MBA in Finance from National Taiwan University (2006), and a BBA in Management Information Systems from National Chengchi University (2004). His research focuses on empirical asset pricing, international finance, and foreign exchange markets, with publications in the Journal of International Money and Finance.
Before academia, Chen served as Senior Foreign Exchange Trader and Macroeconomic Analyst for Taiwan's largest insurance company, managing $26 billion in foreign investment hedges. He also worked in securitization at Taiwan's top investment bank. Chen is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and holds a Certificate in Effective College Instruction.
His research examines currency markets, international investment patterns, and volatility in fixed-income securities. Recent work analyzes housing market impacts of immigration, Japanese insurance investments abroad, and volatility transmission across credit markets.
