Steven Polacco is an Associate Professor and Chair of Art and Communication Media Studies at the School of Liberal Arts and Education, Dominican University. His work focuses on contrasting themes of ephemerality and permanence through creative practices involving video, engraved paper, and laser-cut paper.

Research Interests: Steven explores tensions between transience and permanence, activity and rest, and the mechanics of scanning and seeing. His practice activates historical substrates as information vessels to challenge conventions in mark-making, graphic design, and art.
