Steven P. Lundblad is the Chair and Professor of Geology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo (UH Hilo). He holds a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (1994), following an M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1988) and a B.A. from Harvard University (1985). His research focuses on Sedimentary Geology, Geochemistry, and Geoarchaeology, with additional expertise in environmental and volcanic processes. He teaches courses including Geology 100 (Environmental Geology), Geology 111 (Understanding the Earth), Geology 202 (Coasts and Beaches), and advanced courses like Geology 330 (Deformation of the Earth).
Lundblad leads the Geoarchaeology Lab and utilizes EDXRF (Energy-Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence) techniques. He collaborates with institutions like the Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes and Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory.
