Steven M. Gorelick is the Cyrus Fisher Tolman Professor in the Department of Earth System Science at Stanford University and a Senior Fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. He has been on the faculty since 1988 and directs the Global Freshwater Initiative, with projects in India, Mexico, Vietnam, Jordan, and the US. His research focuses on groundwater management, water security in developing regions, hydrogeophysics, and ecohydrology.
Education: PhD (1981), MS (1977), and BA (1975) in Hydrology and related fields from Stanford University and New College. He holds affiliations with the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and the Precourt Institute for Energy.
