Steven C. Ludwig

Steven C. Ludwig, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He serves as Division Head of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery and Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics. Dr. Ludwig specializes in cervical spine disorders, minimally invasive spinal techniques, motion-preservation surgery, and tumor reconstruction.

• Education: MD from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; Internship and Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital; Fellowship at Emory University Hospital.

His research focuses on biomechanics, spinal trauma, and surgical outcomes. He has contributed to studies on lumbopelvic fixation, pedicle screw techniques, and implant-related infections. Dr. Ludwig is affiliated with multiple institutions, including the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore VA Medical Center.
