معرفی
Steven Beaupre is an Associate Professor at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS), Stony Brook University. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California - Irvine (2007). His research focuses on Marine Biogeochemistry, Chemical kinetics of natural organic matter, and Radiocarbon analyses. He leads the Beaupré Lab, investigating processes that transform organic molecules in marine environments, including photochemical degradation, aerosolization, and microbial activity.
His work emphasizes the role of ancient dissolved organic carbon (RDOC) in global carbon cycling, with notable contributions to understanding RDOC’s atmospheric efflux via marine aerosols. He collaborates on NSF-funded projects studying seasonal marine aerosol dynamics in the North Atlantic. Advising students like Xi Lu (PhD 2021), his lab explores topics like aerosol generation mechanisms, isotopic tracing, and microbial remineralization.
Beaupre’s research integrates field studies (e.g., Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study), lab experiments, and advanced isotope techniques. His lab develops novel methods for precise radiocarbon and stable isotope analysis, contributing to environmental chemistry and climate science. Notable locations include the Sargasso Sea and Georges Bank.
