Steve Schneider

Professor Steve Schneider is a Professor and Director of the Computer Science Research Centre at the University of Surrey, leading the Surrey Centre for Cyber Security (SCCS) and the Nature Inspired Computing and Engineering (NICE) Research Group. He has held roles including Head of the Department of Computer Science (2004-2010) and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (2015-2019). His research focuses on Secure Electronic Voting, Distributed Ledger Technologies, Rail and Automotive Security, and Formal Modeling Verification. Key projects include the Prêt à Voter system used in the 2014 Victorian State Election and work on privacy in transportation systems.

Research interests span formal methods for security protocols, blockchain applications in voting and identity systems, and privacy-preserving technologies. He teaches Advanced Algorithms and supervises undergraduate and MSc projects, contributing to the university’s academic and pedagogical mission.
