Steve Kraemer is Professor and Director of the Institute for Astrophysics and Computational Sciences at The Catholic University of America. His research examines active galactic nuclei (AGN), focusing on mass outflows, narrow-line region physics, and AGN feedback mechanisms.
Research themes include:
- Kinematics and physical conditions of ionized gas in Seyfert galaxies
- Role of AGN outflows in galaxy evolution
- Connection between accretion processes and emission-line properties
Recent work quantifies feedback processes in nearby AGN using Hubble Space Telescope spectroscopy. Publications demonstrate systematic analysis of outflow geometries and their impact on host galaxies.
Kraemer supervises graduate students in AGN research and serves on peer review committees for major space telescopes. No scientific awards are documented.
