معرفی
Stephen Rimmer is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Bradford, specializing in the synthesis and biological applications of functional polymers. His research bridges polymer chemistry and biomedical applications, including stimuli-responsive materials and medical device development.
- PhD in Polymer Chemistry (1992, Imperial College)
- Academic appointments at Lancaster University, University of Sheffield, and University of Bradford (since 2015)
His research focuses on functional polymers for medical applications, including:
- Hydrogels for tissue engineering
- Peptide-functional polymers
- Pathogen detection systems
- Advanced polymerization techniques (radical, cationic, ring-opening)
Rimmer's group secures significant funding (over £6M) from EPSRC, BBSRC, MRC, Wellcome, Nuffield, and industry partners. He has contributed to 127 peer-reviewed articles, 12 book chapters, and 14 patents.
- MRC Discipline Hopping Fellowship (2006/7)
- Founding Chair of RSC Special Interest Group in Biomaterials Chemistry
He teaches Polymer Chemistry at undergraduate and master’s levels, supervises Chemistry and Medical Bioscience masters projects, and collaborates extensively with polymer and biomedical industries.
