Stephen Mrozowski is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts Boston and founding director of the Andrew Fiske Memorial Center for Archaeological Research. His work bridges social theory, historical archaeology, and environmental studies to explore the evolution of complex societies and the impacts of colonization.

Mrozowski’s research spans industrial archaeology, urban archaeology, and indigenous archaeologies, with fieldwork conducted in Eastern North America, Northern Alaska, the Caribbean, Iceland, and Northern Britain. His interdisciplinary approach integrates spatial theory and historical contexts to analyze societal transformations.
He has authored or co-edited several influential publications, including:
