Stephen Morreale is an Adjunct Associate Professor and Senior Research Associate in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at Cornell University. He serves as Director of the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) Program and Associate Director of Research at Cornell’s Arnot Teaching and Research Forest. He is also a Faculty Fellow at the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future. His expertise spans conservation ecology, integrating ecological theory with practical resource management strategies to enhance biodiversity and community well-being.
Dr. Morreale holds a PhD in Zoology from Cornell University. His research focuses on terrestrial, coastal, marine, and estuarine ecosystems, emphasizing global conservation challenges. He employs tools like GIS, satellite telemetry, and remote sensing in projects worldwide, including soil restoration in China, community-based forest conservation in Mexico, and marine conservation in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He teaches courses such as Applied Conservation Ecology and Controversial Conservation.
His work addresses human-environment interactions, ecological restoration, and sustainable resource management. Collaborations span institutions globally, reflecting his commitment to interdisciplinary solutions for environmental challenges.
