Stephen K. Medvic is the Honorable and Mrs. John C. Kunkel Professor of Government at Franklin & Marshall College since 2002. Previously, he taught at Old Dominion University (1997–2002) and served as a Research Fellow at ODU's Social Science Research Center. His research focuses on campaigns and elections, political parties, media influence, public opinion, and political ideology.
Medvic holds a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from Texas A&M University (1991), an M.A. (1994), and Ph.D. (1997) in Political Science from Purdue University. His work has been featured in media outlets like NBC Nightly News, CNN, The Washington Post, and PBS's NewsHour. He has authored/co-authored influential books on campaigns, gerrymandering, and political strategy, including *Campaigns and Elections: Players and Processes* (2022) and *Gerrymandering: The Politics of Redistricting* (2021).
His research emphasizes electoral dynamics, third-party politics, and the role of media in shaping public opinion. Current projects include analyzing super PACs' influence and revising his textbook on campaigns. Medvic has contributed technical reports on voting systems and election administration, reflecting his commitment to electoral integrity.
