Stephen McLoughlin is an Assistant Professor at Coventry University's Research Centre for Peace and Security, specializing in mass atrocity prevention and UN policy analysis. His research explores why mass atrocities sometimes fail to occur despite risk factors, focusing on political leadership's role in mitigating violence. He co-founded the Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) and has authored influential books including The Structural Prevention of Mass Atrocities (2014) and Rethinking Humanitarian Intervention (2018, with Alex Bellamy).
