Stephen M. Ansell

Stephen M. Ansell, M.D., Ph.D., a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic, serves as a hematologist-oncologist and Chair of the Division of Hematology. He leads the Hematological Malignancies Program at Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center and contributes to clinical trial design and cancer research.

Research Focus: Dr. Ansell investigates B cell malignancies (Hodgkin lymphoma, Waldenström macroglobulinemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma), tumor microenvironment interactions, T cell activation/exhaustion, and cytokine signaling in lymphoma. His work has advanced immune checkpoint therapy, notably contributing to FDA approval of nivolumab for Hodgkin lymphoma.

Recent Publications: 2025 studies on CAR-T therapy for B-cell lymphoma, Waldenström survival analysis, and PCNSL treatment strategies highlight his translational impact.
