Professor Stephen Hudson-Mairet is a faculty member in the Digital Media and Performing Arts department at Marquette University's Diederich College of Communication. He holds a M.F.A. in Scenography from the University of Kansas and a B.F.A. in Theatre and Chemistry Education from Carroll College. His research focuses on digital technology integration in theatrical design and production, scenic design, and projection design.
Professional experience includes scenic design for prominent theaters such as Titan Theatre (NYC), Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, and Renaissance Theaterworks. He is affiliated with NAST, USITT, and KCACTF Region III. Courses taught span acting fundamentals to advanced scenographic techniques and theatre history.
His work emphasizes the intersection of technology and artistry in theatre, with notable projects including 'A Christmas Carol' (Titan Theatre, 2019) and 'On the Wings of a Mariposa' (First Stage, 2019). Hudson-Mairet advocates for Marquette's liberal arts approach, fostering students' technical skills alongside societal awareness and ethical practice.
