Stephen Gee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He has been affiliated with the university since July 1998, holding roles such as Course Coordinator for PHS 3341 and Lecturer for NSC 8105, MED 1200, and ANP1105.
Education: PhD in Neurology and Neurosurgery from McGill University (1995), BSc in Biochemistry from McGill University (1987).
Research interests focus on lipid signaling pathways regulating cell shape changes, actin cytoskeleton dynamics, and their roles in cancer metastasis and neurite outgrowth. His lab studies diacylglycerol kinase zeta (DGKz), linking lipid second messengers to Rac1 GTPase activation and actin remodeling. Current projects include mechanisms of neurite outgrowth in neurons and DGKz's role in cancer cell migration.
- Publications: 1 key article on DGKz's role in metastatic colon cancer cell migration (2014).
- No awards explicitly listed.
Teaching includes coordinating medical and neuroscience courses. Lab work emphasizes DGKz's regulatory functions in cellular processes critical to cancer and neurodevelopment.
